A secret recipe of warm holiday spices make this traditional German loaf a much loved treat, and a most appreciated gift. The recipe originated with former Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver chef, Gerhard Weitzel. In 2007, Gerhard retired, after 16 years of working for the hotel and a 50 year career dedicated to pastry. Since his retirement Gerhard has returned seasonally to create each loaf himself, much to the delight of guests and Vancouver locals. The white loaf is made of a yeast dough brimming with a mixture of nuts and fruits and a delicious marzipan filling. The holiday aroma and flavour of Gerhard’s stollen is set to accompany festive cheer throughout the city this season.
